What we do - PUBLIC HEALTH REPORTING

Immunization Registry Reporting

Tennessee Immunization Registry (TennIIS) is a secure, centralized database that stores records for Tennessee residents. It includes data received from health departments and participating healthcare providers across the state.

By using TnHIE’s secure Immunization Registry Reporting, providers can automatically submit vaccination information, eliminating the need to manually upload records or develop a direct interface to the registry.

For immunization lookups, a direct link to TennIIS is available within the Clinical Viewer. A TennIIS login from the Tennessee Department of Health is required to view immunization records.

Having complete immunization records allows providers to:
  • Easily determine which inoculations are due.
  • Prevent unnecessary or duplicate vaccinations.
  • Give immunization records to their patients on-demand for school, camp, daycare enrollment and personal records.
  • Save administrative time and costs incurred by requesting records from the Registry through traditional means.

Electronic Case Reporting

Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) is the automated generation and secure transmission of case reports from an electronic health record system to public health agencies. It eliminates the need for manual reporting, enabling real-time data sharing and improving the speed and accuracy of public health surveillance.

TnHIE supports eCR by acting as a trusted intermediary for its participants. Using its established infrastructure and eHealth Exchange connection, TnHIE simplifies the process of connecting to the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) AIMS platform, eliminating the need for participants to build and maintain their own direct interfaces.

Syndromic Surveillance

Syndromic Surveillance is the collection of information about the general public’s health to determine whether there are any diseases that are following an unusual trend, such as a sudden increase in flu episodes at an unexpected time of year.

Hospitals and urgent care facilities in Tennessee are required to report syndromic surveillance data to the Tennessee Department of Health to support early detection and monitoring of emerging health concerns.

TnHIE streamlines this process by enabling secure, automatic data submission, removing the burden of manual reporting. This not only ensures compliance but also saves valuable time and staff resources.

Stay focused on patient care—let TnHIE take care of the reporting.
