From etHIN to TnHIE

Tennessee HIE: A New Name Reflecting Our Statewide Mission

After 14 years of serving the healthcare community as the East Tennessee Health Information Network (etHIN), we proudly transitioned to the Tennessee Health Information Exchange (TnHIE).

This transition represents more than a new name and logo. It reflects the growth of our network, the expansion of our services, and our ongoing commitment to improving healthcare through secure health information exchange across Tennessee.

Why the Change?

Since its founding, etHIN has played a vital role in connecting healthcare providers, enabling the secure exchange of health information, and supporting better care coordination throughout East Tennessee. As our network expanded across Tennessee, our mission remained unchanged: connecting healthcare providers and partners with the information they need to deliver better, more coordinated care.

Today, TnHIE serves healthcare organizations across the state, supporting hospitals, physician practices, laboratories, public health agencies, and other healthcare stakeholders. Our new name more accurately reflects who we are today and our commitment to supporting healthcare providers and patients throughout Tennessee.

Our Misson Remains the Same

While our name is different, our mission remains unchanged:

  • Deliver secure, timely, and trusted health information
  • Support informed clinical decision-making
  • Reduce administrative burden, lower costs, and improve operational efficiency
  • Enable more coordinated, patient-centered care

Above all, we remain committed to helping healthcare organizations access and share the information they need to deliver better care and improve patient outcomes.

What This Means for You

Our new name and brand officially launched on May 1, 2026, marking an important milestone in our organization’s evolution. The transition was seamless for our participants, with uninterrupted access to the services and support they rely on every day.

What Stayed the Same

  • The trusted team you’ve worked with for years
  • Expert support from experienced staff
  • The same phone numbers and primary points of contact

Looking Ahead

The transition to TnHIE marks an exciting new chapter for our organization.  As healthcare continues to evolve, we are ready to expand our capabilities, strengthen partnerships, and advance innovative solutions that help improve health outcomes across Tennessee.

We are proud of our history and excited about our future — and grateful to have our participants and partners with us on this journey.  Together, we will continue connecting healthcare communities across Tennessee and advancing a more connected, coordinated, and efficient healthcare ecosystem for all Tennesseans.
